Closed-loop TBSThe goal of this clinical study is to investigate the effectiveness of non-invasive stimulation to enhance cognitive control abilities in older adults with and without cognitive impairment. The main questions it aims to answer are: * whether it is possible to restore various cognitive functions in older adults by delivering theta burst stimulation (TBS), a form of transcranial magnetic stimulation, and * whether closed-loop TBS is able to induce therapeutic benefits that outperform open-loop TBS. Participants play a cognitive video game while a brain-computer interface (BCI) analyzes their electroencephalogram (EEG) signals and decodes the presence or absence of the contingent negative variation (CNV) potential, a marker of cognitive control. The BCI triggers TBS when its outputs indicate that the participant is not engaged properly in the video game. Researchers will compare the effects of closed-loop and open-loop TBS using the outcome metrics described below to see how much cognitive restorations is achievable with each stimulation modality. Community-Based Screening for Chronic Kidney DiseaseChronic Kidney Disease (CKD) incubates for years before kidney function declines to such low levels that patients develop symptoms and present for medical evaluation. The earlier in its course that CKD is identified, the more likely that medical care can slow or stop further worsening toward complete loss of kidney function, or end-stage kidney disease (ESKD). Individuals living in low income, largely minority communities are at greater risk for CKD than those in wealthier, non-minority communities but have historic mistrust of research. This project will conduct screening for high levels of a urine protein called albumin, indicating underlying CKD, in churches known to have the trust of communities, to identify asymptomatic individuals with CKD to be offered referral for kidney-protective medical care. Upon completion, this project will determine if individuals so identified with CKD will 1) accept referral for CKD care; 2) remain in care for at least 12 months; and 3) achieve a reduction in urine albumin levels, indicating CKD improvement. Music-4-MS to Improve Cognition in People Living With Multiple Sclerosis: A Feasibility StudyMultiple sclerosis (MS) rates in the U.S. have nearly doubled over the past decade, making it a leading cause of nontraumatic functional impairment in young adults and significantly affecting cognitive function in up to 70% of people with MS. While traditional cognitive rehabilitation methods are limited in sensory engagement, music training offers a multisensory approach that enhances neuroplasticity and improves cognitive functions. This study investigates the feasibility of Music-4-MS, a 12-week music-based eHealth intervention, to support cognitive and emotional health in individuals with MS.
