A Self-management Based Survivorship Intervention for Chinese Cancer SurvivorsThis study, using a sequential multiple assessment randomized controlled trial (SMART) approach, will evaluate a cancer survivorship care intervention on physical symptom distress, weight management, self-efficacy in managing cancer and health-related quality of life among Chinese patients recently completed curative cancer treatment. Bifidobacterium probiotics supplementationThe primary objective of this study is to investigate if a Bifidobacterium-based probiotic intervention would reduce clinic systolic BP in untreated middle-aged Chinese men and women with hypertension according to ACC/AHA guidelines (SBP ≥130 mm Hg) after 12 weeks of treatment. The investigators anticipate that this feasibility study will provide rationale to conduct a larger randomized clinical trial and preliminary data to estimate the power/ sample size of a larger RCT. EchopulseAfter obtaining informed consent, eligible subjects will be assigned randomly into either High intensity focused ultrasound group (HIFU) or Radioactive iodine (131I) therapy group (RAIT). After treatment, they will be followed up for 4 visits (1-month, 3-month, 6- month, 12-month of post treatment). At each visit, they will have physical examination, regular blood test and questionnaire to evaluate their quality of life. The collected data will be used to compare the effectiveness between HIFU and RAIT for non-toxic multi-nodular goiter (NMNG). The primary purepose is to find out the best non-invasive way in treating NMNG. For HIFU, you may experience: 1. Mild bruising and redness at the site of treatment 2. Edema of the skin tissue 3. Pain/discomfort during the procedure 4. Skin burns but rare (\<1%) 5. Vocal cord paresis on the side of the treated lobe but rare (\<1%) 6. Unintentional damage to the surrounding tissue (outside the planned treatment area). For RAIT, you may experience neck tenderness or sore throat in the following few days as developing moderate inflammation in the thyroid and producing discomfort in the neck or throat area. Your symptoms may turn worse for first few week, but will improve over weeks. Cancer Non applicable Traitement symptomatique Hong Kong À vérifier
Effectiveness of Strength-based Intervention for Elderly With Dementia Living in the CommunityIn the realm of dementia care, the imperative to intervene at the earliest stages of cognitive decline is paramount. Recognizing this pivotal moment, the development of innovative and effective interventions becomes imperative in delaying dementia progression. Rooted in the Roy Adaptation Model and Zimmer's Theory of Psychological Empowerment, the investigator team has developed the empowerment-based dyadic strength-based intervention, which integrates strength-based and empowerment methodologies. Emphasizing a shift from deficits to capabilities, the strength-based approach fosters awareness of collective strengths within care dyads, facilitating coping mechanisms and resilience in the face of cognitive afflictions. Focal Therapy for Prostate CancerWhole gland therapy (radical prostatectomy and radiotherapy) has been the conventional treatment for localized prostate cancer, but randomized controlled trials have not demonstrated survival benefits compared with watchful waiting or active surveillance. Whole gland therapy is also associated with significant long-term sequelae including urinary incontinence, erectile dysfunction, irradiation cystitis, and proctitis. Focal therapy has emerged as an alternative treatment modality, yet more data are needed to ensure its safety and efficacy. This is a prospective database/registry study designed to record all pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative parameters for patients undergoing focal therapies for prostate cancer, including but not limited to cryotherapy, high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU), focal laser therapy (FLA), irreversible electroporation (IRE), targeted microwave ablation (TMA). All patients who have undergone focal therapy at the Department of Surgery, Queen Mary Hospital for prostate cancer will be invited to participate, except those incapable of providing written informed consent. The primary outcome is the surgical outcomes (complications and effectiveness) of focal therapies. Secondary outcomes include identification of risk factors for treatment-related complications, provision of a readily available dataset for subsequent research, and identification of the best treatment allocation for prostate cancer patients. An estimated 200 patients will be included, with data collection from study start until 31 March 2030. Cancer À vérifier À vérifier Hong Kong À vérifier
